After all the planning, training and preparation, the Ride and Stride event finally kicked off today with the cyclists taking the lead, leaving Inverness in the rain this morning. However, the weather broke as the morning went on and the cyclists enjoyed sunshine and some great views as they skirted Loch Luichart en route to Craig, the Highlands once again delivering the 'four seasons in one day' experience!
The runners began their 10.6 mile stretch at Craig and enjoyed some of the best weather of the day with big skies, mountain landscapes and views of the beautiful Loch Durghaill to keep them going.
The first day's efforts came to an end in Lochcarron as the team headed for the Lochcarron Hotel and the opportuntiy to relax, refuel and prepare for a tough day of climbing on day 2. The donations total at the end of day 1 reached £8,545, 94% of our fundrasing total of £9,000.
